Wreath Making

Step by Step Guide

Wreath kits come complete with everything you need to create a traditional door wreath at home, and here’s how!

You will need:

A pair of garden secateurs or scissors

A clear workspace

Included in your kit is your wire rings, moss, a selection of fresh foliage’s, dried fruit, seed heads and luxury ribbon.

Follow the step by step guide below or watch Jade making a wreath here:

Attach the end of your wire onto the wreath frame by twisting onto
the outer part of the frame. Keep your wire reel attached to the frame at all times.

Separate your moss, pulling out any obvious sticks or debris and discard of them. Shape your moss into a sausage and lay it onto your wreath frame. Start tightly wrapping your wire over the frame to attach the moss. Go around twice to insure it is secure. Use scissors to remove any stray bits.

Do not be tempted to cut the wire. Leave it attached to the frame.

Time to make your bundles of foliage. Start by cutting your foliage into shorter lengths. Gather two or three small lengths to make little mixed bunches. You need to make approximately 12 small bunches.
Each bunch should be no bigger than your hand

Now it’s time to attach the foliage bundles onto the frame. Lay your first bundle on to the mossed frame following the shape of the frame. Keep your bundles straight, do not be tempted to point the steams outside of the frame.

Now using the attached wire reel, wrap the wire around the frame and steams to attach securely. Add the second bundle, this time lying the second over the steams of the first and attach to the frame using the wire. Keep going until you have filled the entire wreath frame. This should require 12 bundles.

Attaching the last bunch can be tricky so carefully lift up the first bunch and slide the steams of the bunch underneath so they are hidden.

Once you are happy that all the foliage is securely attached, you can now cut the wire reel off the frame and simply poke the end into the moss.

Time to decorate! Place the decorations you want to use on the wreath until you are happy with the design. Using the lengths of green wires twist them around the decorations and simply push them through the wreath, on the reverse cut the excess wire off and bend the end back into the moss to secure. Continue this process until all of the decorations are secured in place.

Finally the ribbon, fold the centre part of the ribbon into a Z shape, leaving longer lengths at each end. Place a green wire in the centre of the ribbon and twist to secure. Gently open out the loops and fluff into a bow. Attach the bow in the same way as the other decorations

Lastly find the top of your wreath and using a green wire create a hoop but simply twisting the wire through the moss. This hoop will now enable you to hang your beautiful wreath on your front door.

Have a very Merry Christmas from
